HISTORY
OF ST. JOHN TECHNOLOGICAL COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES
ST. JOHN INSTITUTE
OF TECHNOLOGY was conceived by Dr. Felizardo Y. Francisco and Engr.
Benito F. Padallan in April 1989, as an urgent response for academic
preparation of students in the tertiary level for the enhancement
of basic craftsmanship in technical courses needed by the booming
industries and business establishments in the vicinity of Novaliches.
ST. JOHN INSTITUTE
OF TECHNOLOGY was organized, registered, and approved as a non-stock,
non-profit educational institution on September 18, 1989. It was
through the concerted efforts of Messrs. Cesar J. Silvestre, Elpidio
J. Cardenas, Orvil M. Molina, Demetrio L. Pasco, Juanito B. Garcia,
Mrs. Victoria A. Padallan, Mrs. Marcela S. Francisco and Ms. Gemma
A. Padallan who acted in their capacity as members of the Board
of Trustees. Thus the vision and goal of SJIT was moving towards
its realization.

After a year
of operation, SJIT “gained the fruit of its toil” as proven by statistical
data wherein ninety percent (90%) of the graduates ventured into
a small and medium scale business under the auspices of SJIT Placement
and Assistance Program. In recognition of this exemplary efforts
of school administrators and students. SJIT was given government
recognition on March 27, 1991 effective S.Y. 1991-1992
Consequently,
additional courses were included in the curricula. (Technical Technology,
Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Education, and Engineering Courses)
under the supervision of CHED and TESDA.
In year 1997,
SJIT was given the college status under its present name ST. JOHN
TECHNOLOGICAL COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES.
In this period
of growth and expansion, the action programs are currently handled
by Dr. Laura A. Lintao whose diverse backgrounds and expertise are
instrumental in providing objectivity to the pursuit of the highest
expression of academic excellence.
With the full
support from the members of the Board of trustees, the President
and Executive Council Officers focuses on the implementation of
prioritized planning, rational decisions in dealing with routine
works, time management skills, expanded advertising support in its
state-of-the-art technology, and the continuous improvement of facilities
and structures.
The dream and
vision for a university status for ST. JOHN TECHNOLOGICAL COLLEGE
OF THE PHILIPPINES may not be too far.
